Sophie Laverty
Sophie specialises in woven textiles, her most recent work focuses on the use of sustainable materials and manufacturing processes in unification with responsible design choices.
Historicism is a sustainable, bespoke tailoring collection inspired by the refined luxuriance of beautiful, British environments. In conjunction with the celebration of ‘125 Years of the National Trust’, the collection seeks to spark awareness in the areas of conservation, preservation and restoration, while maintaining a sustainably aware policy of sourcing and production. The range of bespoke fabrics are for use in pieces which may become generational. The cost and craft associated with pieces of a higher quality are repaid in the long term life of the garments, emotional connection with the pieces, and safe knowledge that the fabric is produced using materials and methods which secure skilled communities and a commitment to responsible design choices with regard to human impact on the environment.
Sophie intends to continue within the textiles industry through a hand-crafted approach to collaborative design and sampling.
