Interested in how textiles can be used to improve mental well-being, my work explores the positive impact of colour, space, and imagery.
My project explores the use of digital textiles in a virtual space to promote mental well-being. The use of alternative mental illness healing techniques greatly interests me. During my final year, I have looked at beliefs surrounding the benefits of crystals, plants and meditative spaces, producing work that explores these natural, traditional methods of healing, while combining modern, digital techniques of working.
I believe that appreciating art and visual beauty can benefit our mental health, as well as being creative ourselves. I would like to work within a setting that encourages creativity for emotional benefit - arts therapy interests me greatly and is an area I would like to pursue. While I enjoy designing myself, I feel that my interests and skill set would blossom when I am helping others to harness their own creativity.
Dissertation
