Final visualisations
A selection of my design outcomes visualised as a Spring/Summer womenswear collection.
Digital repeat pattern
Digitally manipulated image made into a repeat pattern using Photoshop, which later become an element of one of my final outcomes.
Technical information
An important part of all my projects is the technical information I give for each sample created so that I can reflect and develop my ideas further.
Digital repeat pattern
A drawing worked into digitally and repeated as a half drop pattern which I later visualised as a pleat sample.
Princess pleat
Layers of materials with sheer, metallic and opaque qualities pleated to create a fabric sample that inspired many of my drawings for this project.
Ruching
A ruching technique with digitally embroidered details that was later used as inspiration for one of my final outcomes.
Digital embroidered details with added fringing
This digitally embroidered sample inspired the use of fringing within my final outcomes. The use of sheer materials enabled the digitally embroidered details to be seen through the fabrics.
Smocking with digitally embroidered details
A sample combining digital and hand techniques to create gentle volume.
Amber Chantrey
I am a digital designer whose work combines the use of digital embroidery, digital print, laser cut and hand techniques to create experimental outcomes. I have advanced skills using digital software such as Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign and Wilcom.
'Urban Camouflage' is an exploration into a form of camouflage called flash colouration. Flash colouration is a process which involves the sudden exposure of colour and pattern in order to challenge mechanisms of perception and to create a momentary burst of confusion. I designed a womenswear collection with modern femininity in mind, creating frills and investigating the seen and unseen through dimensional movement using pleats, ruffles and fringing. I used my digital skills to create pages of technical information explaining clearly and concisely how each final outcome would have been created physically. In the future I would love to work in a studio bringing artworks to life with embroidery.

Experience
I have experience working as an Assistant Junior Designer at Branded Clothing International where I created accurate artwork (print set-ups) that clearly detail the exact appearance and nature of the application including dimensions and colours, for the suppliers guidance. I liaised with factories and suppliers to ensure artwork is well-received and organised garment designs into the necessary format required for approval by the licensor. I created new designs according to the customer’s brief and maintained an awareness of current and forecasted fashion and clothing trends.
