The parent will be able to create multiple accounts for their children and select different activities for each child, depending on which personality-type pack they choose. Selecting the types of activities which they take part in will allow the parent to encourage their child to either complete tasks they know they will really enjoy, or encourage them to take part in tasks which would be slightly outside their comfort zone.

The use of personalisation in the Camper Van activity pack gives the children more of a sense of attachment and sentiment. They can choose which colour or pattern the pack is, as well as adding their name to the box for it to become even more personalised. The colour or pattern of the Camper Van Box will reflect the design of the activity inside the pack to create a consistent theme.

Activity booklets

Activity booklets

Activity booklets inside the Camper Van Box has daily activities and challenges, set previously by the parent. Instructions and illustrations explain these in more depth than the descriptions in the application. To make sure the child knows which skill level task they are completing, the medals and trophy icons are placed prominently.

The camper van box is one of the main features of Happy Campers. The child will treasure this appealing portable container for their Happy Campers paraphernalia. They will also be able to use this space to put other toys and games in as there is ample space inside. The uniquely designed box is a key selling point and will be durable for use on numerous family holidays or excursions.

Each activity pack includes a disposable camera for the child to create an album of memories of their camping holiday. They will be able to capture and reflect on the exciting places and activities they have experienced. The Adventure pack includes a collectables box; the Creative pack contains a pack of coloured crayons and the Puzzle pack includes a pack of camping-themed playing cards.

Chloe Broad

As a designer, I am particularly interested in visualising concepts through to the final product. I specialise in creating brands for businesses to reflect their values and purpose, using a variety of contemporary design elements.

This project aimed to provide a means for parents to have greater control over the amount of screen time children aged 5-7 are exposed to while on holiday. It is understood that doing so can be a challenge, therefore the ‘Happy Campers Activity Pack’ was created. This activity pack combines both application and product design. It provides fun, educational and immersive experiences for children whilst on holiday. The application allows parents to set daily challenges, of varying categories and difficulty levels, to keep children entertained whilst being able to rest assured that their child is being educated and learning something new in the process. The activity packs and challenges have been divided up into the following personalities: ‘Adventure’, ‘Puzzles’ and ‘Creativity’. The application includes a rewards system which allows points to be earned depending on the number and difficulty of the challenges that have been completed.

Experience

My time at ‘Mr Oliver's Creative’ consisted of working alongside customers to create websites, branding and publications for their businesses. These businesses ranged from small start-up companies to larger business enterprises. These projects allowed me to gain first-hand experience of the industry, whilst also providing me with an opportunity to develop my skill set and personal portfolio. This development has proven invaluable for completing the remainder of my undergraduate degree. I hope the additions I have been able to make to my personal portfolio will stand me in good stead for the future.
