‘‘Turning back the clock” is a collection of black, white and grey samples made for outerwear that are for everyone, that are multi-seasonal, timeless and classic that can be worn by anyone at any time of the year, in any year and still look stylish and sophisticated.
Taking inspiration from the history of tartans and old black and white photographs of Emily’s grandparents, and her mother and father from when they got married, graduated university and on holiday, this beautiful collection of handwoven wool designs are able to convey the merging of families and the growth of new families through the compositions of checks, colour and weave techniques. After graduating Emily hopes to work in the fashion industry building on from the experience she gained in her placement year and using her technical knowledge of fabric and yarns to make her stand out from the rest of the crowd.

Experience
On my placement I was lucky enough to work at two weaving studios, Margo Selby and Rare Thread and at a large fashion, home and food brand, M&S. Through working at these different companies, I was able to work out what I would want from a future career and what I would want to avoid. I loved my time at each of businesses for different reasons and would love one day to combine the small studio weaving with the high-street fashion business to create beautiful and sustainability driven items of clothing or home furnishings.
