The UpBeat game

The UpBeat game

The board-game encourages children to socialise and communicate amongst each other. The game works in the same way as snakes and ladders, but music themed. Ladders are drumsticks and headphones are snakes. The communication comes from not only just wanting to play with others, but the more they speak to other children and get them involved in the game they can add on their board-game tile to make the game last longer.

Georgea Evans

I love to experiment with different mediums in design, making sure I have picked the perfect one for each project. I love learning different ways of design and different software, but mainly my passion for design is in the concept of a project, and how I can use strategy to elevate the purpose of a product.

The aim of the project was to discover and create a way in which we could restore dignity to those who are displaced. The project was based off an RSA brief called “Dignity in Displacement”. The brief's premise was to help displaced families regain a sense of self and rebuild their lives.
The UpBeat project focuses on aiding mental health in young children in refugee camps and giving them something else to focus their energy on. The box works by not being reliant on any technology, or Wi-Fi, or a place for it to charge. It is taking arts and crafts to the next level, by having everything you need inside of it, which also means the box produces no waste, as everything is re-used to create a different part of the box. I enjoy creating work that solves problems and is innovative to its consumers. My career aims are to expand my interests in design and ideally use them within the branding industry.
