My interdisciplinary practice fuses Art and Science while touching on debates of authorship through my collaboration with nature. My practice is situated within bio art as it utilises living biology such as Copper Sulphate growth structures as an artistic medium.
Artistic expression benefits from an interplay with science. Using the characteristics of shape, form and colour I create biomorphic abstract organic forms which refer to and evoke the living system of Copper Sulphate crystal growth. My work is situated within a specialised field as it combines both disciplines of Art and Science. The opportunity to work in the STEM laboratory has allowed to me work closely with the chemical. This experience has prepared me for future exhibitions, as I now understand the requirements and considerations necessary to transfer this chemical from a laboratory to a gallery setting.
