Buzzin' / Herba / Our BBC [Read more]
Manchester’s Buzzin’ bee hunt is an educational AR experience, aimed at families with children between the ages of five and seven years old. Designed to immerse the users in the vast history and culture the great city has to offer whilst enhancing their learning through AR challenges.
Herba is a discount app designed to help transitioning and current vegans find a community within their local area, and to allow them to save money through finding discounts submitted by members.
This was a D&AD brief for the BBC that I completed with a fellow course graphics student. We created an animation as our final piece which you can find on my Behance.
Our BBC breaks down physical barriers that people may face, creating a digital space where family and loved ones can connect. It does this by deepening their values and exploring their interests on a more meaningful level.
Users can personalise their Buzzin' day by filling in some simple questions after downloading the app. These questions help make their day unique and tailor it to their needs.
Children can create their very own bee character which then becomes the main character of the app and is the drive to completing challenges.
After users have submitted their preferences on the Buzzin' app to help us personalise their day, they are sent their very own Buzzin' box. The box contains a map which shows their trail, two sets of sticker packs, a colouring sheet and a Buzzin' badge.
Manchester city centre has around 80 bees (not real) dotted around the city and these are the things that the children have to find on their hunts. At each bee they find, they use the AR feature of the Buzzin' app to reveal a challenge. They can find one of our teacher bees at each challenge helping them along, or giving hints to answers. Completing challenges gets their bee closer to its hive, and returning to its family. They are able to share their progress within the app with friends and can earn prizes such as vouchers for local businesses around the city.
Users can browse offers near them, redeem and keep track of how much they have saved, gain points when they do a fully vegan shop and connect to their local community.
By adding their own offers and recipes to the app, they are helping others in their community save money, whilst encouraging them to be more adventurous with their meals. Users gain points through their experiences with the app and can challenge friends, gain badges, move up levels and convert their points to coins which they can donate to animal loving charities.
With my work I strive in creating visually rich designs that create an exciting/seamless experience for the user.
I thrive when producing digital products and experiences that are aimed at specific audiences.
Throughout my degree I have particularly enjoyed branding and UX/UI briefs. I find that these are the fields I excel at the most and that really challenge my skills. Doing extensive research is something that I have found to be an important factor in my design process and greatly impacts my final outcomes.
Ideally, I am looking to work for a branding/UX agency as I would like to experience working on a variety of projects for different clients and sectors. I am very self motivated and am able to work on my own, but also enjoy working collaboratively within a team.
During my degree and placement year, I have had an excellent track record of meeting (often tight) deadlines for the delivery of my work and consider that my time management skills are strong.

I completed two weeks of work experience at McCann London and VCCP in 2015. I worked under time pressure to meet live briefs, experienced the design process of an agency and shared and developed ideas with the design team.
