Uncle Misho

The mystical and captivating power of folklore song flows through the vessel, My Uncle Misho. It transgresses boundaries as its effective power is felt.

Gallery +359's unique structure of an old water tower is idea as the it provides the audience with a journey before arriving at the top of the building. This pilgrimage and testing journey is accentuated by the three floors of walls adorned in my artwork. The spiralling staircase challenges the viewer.

Veronika Mihaleva

Raw

The contents of my art are a visual documentation and journey, deconstructing the traumatic and culturally filled process of pig slaughter. By placing myself within the event, I push my personal boundaries, inherit trauma and experience the in-between. The artwork challenges the viewer and concept matter as I focus on the (un)familiar, (un)seen grey space area. The chosen subject matter is polemic as it uses meat as a catalyst for thought and mindfulness. In this instance, I look at meat as a cultural common denominator, as a boundless medium which can communicate across cultures and retain effective power. Through the lens of the original pig footage I explore trauma and affect tangent to culture and human response.

Experience

I worked at Art Agency as an intern and personal assistant to the founder of the gallery. My responsibilities grew over time as I took part in seeing through various projects; taking initiative and charge of the sales team, eventually training new employees. I was able to acquire and apply my knowledge of art at the many art fairs and client meetings we attended. Using a multitude of languages (English, Bulgarian, Spanish, Russian & French) I was able to demonstrate quick independent thinking and to adapt to any situation; especially while delivering sales presentations.
